Turning This Thing Around

When the Scissor Sisters perform camp-kitch disco it makes perfect, sleaze-free sense... not so here. When El Presidente mimic the same sentiments, they sound butt clenchingly trite. The musical potential for a meeting between T-Rex and Prince may have looked good paper, but the reality is little short of horrific. Turn this thing Around' is a y-front pop stomp that could well be a huge hit at Soho office parties, but with any luck will be considered too classless to touch the charts. Dante Gizzi's crooning voice combined with the sickly sweet garish hooks are more than likely to be branded on to your mind for a day or so. From this point of view we must concede that Maxim, The Sun and Gay Times are accurate in their observation that El Presidente are indeed "catchy". Probably best treated like the imminent threat of bird flue; ignored until it invade air waves.
